Neville's mother -- an Auror tortured alongside her husband into permanent insanity. She gives Neville Drooble's bubblegum wrappers every visit, and he keeps every one.
Alice was a formidable Auror who, like Frank, chose agony over betrayal. Her mind shattered under the Cruciatus Curse but some thread of recognition persists -- she saves bubblegum wrappers and gives them to Neville each visit, a gesture that might be motherly love surviving where conscious memory cannot. When Harry and the others see her at St Mungo's during Christmas, Alice shuffles over and presses a wrapper into Neville's hand. His grandmother tells him to throw it away. He puts it in his pocket. The wrapper is worthless. It is also the only gift his mother can give him, and Neville Longbottom does not throw away gifts from people who love him, whether they remember him or not.
Round-faced, thin, vacant eyes like Frank. Hospital robes, unkempt hair. Shuffles softly. Presses gum wrappers into Neville's hand when he visits.
