Gryffindor Tower

Location from harry-potter-goblet-of-fire by

The common room and dormitories of Gryffindor House — this year a place of divided loyalties, with half the house wearing SUPPORT CEDRIC badges and the other half standing by Harry.

Gryffindor Tower becomes contested ground this year. When Harry's name comes out of the Goblet, the house splits — the younger students rally around him, the older students back Cedric as the 'real' champion, and Ron's absence from Harry's side is a visible wound. The common room is where Harry sits alone while his best friend refuses to speak to him, where Hermione coaches him on Summoning Charms until midnight, and where the reconciliation happens after the first task, wordless and awkward and sufficient. The fire where Sirius's head appears, floating among the flames to advise Harry, casts dancing shadows on the scarlet walls. The room smells of wood smoke and tension.

Appearance

A round, cozy tower room hung with scarlet tapestries, furnished with squashy armchairs. A large fireplace dominates one wall. The Fat Lady guards the entrance, demanding passwords. The notice board is cluttered with Tournament updates, Yule Ball dress code reminders, and a few S.P.E.W. leaflets Hermione has posted that nobody reads. Spiral staircases lead to the dormitories above.
