The main dining and assembly hall of Hogwarts — this year hosting the Goblet of Fire's champion selection, the Yule Ball, and meals shared between three wizarding schools.
The Great Hall is the stage for every major event this year. The Goblet of Fire's selection ceremony — when three names became four and the hall went from cheering to stunned silence as Harry's name flew from the flames. The Yule Ball — Hogwarts' first dance in years, where McGonagall taught fourth-years to waltz, Dumbledore danced with Madame Maxime, and Ron Weasley sat in a corner glaring at Viktor Krum. The daily meals where three schools' worth of students eye each other across house tables, alliances forming and shifting as the Tournament progresses. The enchanted ceiling mirrors the weather outside, and as the year darkens, the skies it shows grow stormier.
A cavernous stone hall lit by thousands of candles hovering in midair. Four long house tables run its length, with foreign students interspersed among the houses — Beauxbatons students at the Ravenclaw table, Durmstrang at Slytherin. The staff table on its dais accommodates extra chairs for Madame Maxime and Karkaroff. The Goblet of Fire stood here during the selection ceremony, its blue-white flames reflected in the enchanted ceiling above. For the Yule Ball, the hall was transformed: silver frost on the walls, enchanted snow falling from the ceiling, a stage for the Weird Sisters, and round tables replacing the house benches.
