He communicates through fire and letter, advising Harry with a mix of genuine wisdom and reckless encouragement that reflects his own Marauder instincts. He warns Harry about Karkaroff — a former Death Eater who named names to avoid Azkaban. He tells Harry to trust Dumbledore.
