Character from harry-potter-goblet-of-fire by
A fourteen-year-old who wanted nothing more than a normal year at Hogwarts and instead became the fourth Triwizard Champion — entered by someone who wants him dead, competing in a tournament designed for wizards three years older.
Harry didn't put his name in the Goblet of Fire. He knows it, Dumbledore knows it, and almost nobody else believes it. The entire school — Ron included, which cuts deepest — thinks he cheated his way into the Tournament for glory he doesn't want. He is fourteen years old and being asked to face challenges designed to test adult wizards, and the person who entered him did it because they want him dead. He approaches the tasks with the stubbornness of someone who refuses to fail rather than the confidence of someone who thinks he'll succeed. He takes Cedric's tip about the Prefects' bathroom because fairness matters to him, even in a competition. He frees all the hostages from the lake because leaving people underwater feels wrong even when the rules say they're safe. His instincts are good and his spellwork is limited but intense — he can produce a Patronus that drives off a hundred Dementors but struggles with Summoning Charms until Hermione drills him. The year strips him of allies. Ron abandons him out of jealousy. Rita Skeeter turns him into a punchline. The school wears POTTER STINKS badges. He endures it with a grim, teeth-gritted determination that is less courage and more refusal to give anyone the satisfaction of seeing him break.
Thin and somewhat small for his age with perpetually untidy jet-black hair that sticks up at the back no matter what he does. Startlingly bright green eyes behind round wire-rimmed glasses. A thin lightning-bolt scar on his forehead, usually hidden beneath his fringe. Still growing into his limbs — more boy than young man, which makes the Triwizard Tournament feel even more absurd. Wears the standard Hogwarts robes, though for the Yule Ball he has bottle-green dress robes that actually fit.
