Voldemort's headquarters -- the Malfoys' ancestral mansion turned torture chamber, where Hermione was tortured, Dobby was killed, and Draco couldn't bring himself to identify Harry.
Malfoy Manor is where the worst happens. The trio are captured by Snatchers and brought here. Bellatrix recognizes the Sword of Gryffindor and panics -- it should be in her vault at Gringotts. She tortures Hermione on the drawing room floor, carving 'Mudblood' into her arm, demanding to know if they've been in her vault. Draco is asked to identify Harry and hesitates. Ron screams Hermione's name from the cellar below. Dobby Apparates in, drops the chandelier, and rescues everyone. Bellatrix's knife catches him as he Disapparates. The chandelier that fell on Bellatrix was probably worth more than the Weasleys' house. The manor returns to being merely pretentious after the war, its horror absorbed into the walls.
Imposing pale stone manor behind wrought-iron gates. Dark, ornate drawing room with crystal chandelier and polished table used for Death Eater meetings. Cellar where prisoners are chained. Nagini slithers freely through the halls.
