The most powerful wand in existence -- Voldemort stole it from Dumbledore's tomb, but it belongs to Harry through a chain of disarmings the Dark Lord never tracked. It will not kill its own master.
The Elder Wand's allegiance passed from Dumbledore to Draco (who disarmed Dumbledore on the Astronomy Tower) to Harry (who disarmed Draco at Malfoy Manor). Voldemort believes he became master by killing Snape, who killed Dumbledore. He is wrong. The wand was never Snape's -- Draco disarmed Dumbledore before Snape killed him. When Voldemort fires Avada Kedavra at Harry in the final duel, the Elder Wand refuses to kill its true master. The curse rebounds. Voldemort falls. Harry uses the Elder Wand to repair his own broken holly wand, then returns it to Dumbledore's tomb. The Deathstick's chain of murder ends not with another murder but with a choice to let it go.
