The Hospital Wing this year is a gallery of the Basilisk's victims. Mrs Norris, Colin Creevey, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Nearly Headless Nick, Hermione Granger, and Penelope Clearwater all lie in beds, petrified and unresponsive. Madam Pomfrey can do nothing except wait for Sprout's Mandrakes to mature. Harry visits Hermione and finds the crumpled page in her fist -- the clue about the Basilisk that cracks the mystery. He also spends time here after Lockhart accidentally vanishes all the bones in his arm, enduring a night of Skele-Gro bone regrowth that feels like having splinters driven into his arm from the inside.
