Character from harry-potter-chamber-of-secrets by
The weepy teenage ghost who haunts the second-floor girls' bathroom -- she was killed by the Basilisk fifty years ago when Tom Riddle first opened the Chamber, and the entrance has been in her bathroom ever since.
Myrtle is trapped in the worst moment of her adolescence for eternity -- bullied, lonely, and killed in a bathroom. She wails, floods the bathroom when upset, and pesters anyone who visits. She died because she was crying in a stall and came out to tell whoever was making hissing sounds to go away -- and saw a pair of enormous yellow eyes. That was fifty years ago. She's been haunting the same bathroom ever since. This year she is an unlikely ally. Hermione brews Polyjuice Potion in her bathroom because no one else uses it -- Myrtle's flooding and moaning keep other students away. Harry finds Tom Riddle's diary in one of Myrtle's flooded toilets after Ginny tried to get rid of it. And it's Myrtle who eventually reveals that the Chamber entrance is in her bathroom -- the very place she died. She saw a pair of yellow eyes, and then she was dead. She's been sitting on that information for half a century, but no one thought to ask the ghost in the bathroom how she died.
Mousy brown hair, round glasses, translucent. Perpetually sulky expression. Floats above toilet stalls. Pimples still visible in death.
