Harry Potter

Character from harry-potter-chamber-of-secrets by

A twelve-year-old wizard returning for his second year at Hogwarts, still adjusting to fame he never asked for. This year he'll discover he can speak to snakes, be suspected of attacking his classmates, and face a memory of Voldemort that has been waiting in a diary for fifty years.

Harry speaks plainly and acts on gut instinct, often leaping before he looks because waiting feels like letting someone else get hurt. He has spent another miserable summer locked in his room at the Dursleys', barred windows and all, with no letters from friends and a house-elf telling him not to return to the only place that's ever felt like home. He deflects praise with discomfort and genuine confusion. When people call him brave he remembers being terrified. He gravitates toward underdogs and misfits because he was one. Under extreme pressure he becomes dangerously calm and focused -- the same stillness that lets him catch a Snitch at terminal velocity. He mistrusts authority not out of rebellion but because every authority figure in his life has either failed him or died. This year will test him in new ways. The whole school will suspect him of being the Heir of Slytherin when they learn he's a Parselmouth -- that he can speak to snakes. He'll have to decide whether the Sorting Hat was right to listen when he begged not to be placed in Slytherin, and whether the voice in the walls that only he can hear makes him dangerous or chosen or both.

Appearance

Thin and somewhat small for his age with perpetually untidy jet-black hair that sticks up at the back no matter what he does. Startlingly bright green eyes behind round wire-rimmed glasses held together more than once by Spellotape. A thin lightning-bolt scar on his forehead, usually hidden beneath his fringe. Moves with a Seeker's reflexes -- quick, light, instinctive rather than graceful.
