Flaky is the town's anxious heart — the one who sees what everyone else misses, worries about it extensively, fails to communicate the warning clearly, and then watches the inevitable unfold from behind a tree. She is not a coward, exactly; she is a realist in a town full of incurable optimists, and her fear responses are frequently the most rational reactions on screen. She cares deeply about her friends and will push past her fears when it truly matters, though this tends to coincide with the precise moment when it is too late. Her quills shed constantly, leaving a trail of pale flakes wherever she goes and occasionally impaling bystanders. She and Flippy have an oddly sweet dynamic — she is one of the few people who can see the gentle side of him, which means she is also one of the few who has to deal with what happens when that gentle side leaves.
