• Stalkers — lobotomized, cybernetically modified humans — maintain the internal systems
• The core's explosion creates an unstable superportal that, if not closed, will allow the Combine Overworld to reconnect to Earth
• Breen's office and broadcast studio are in the upper levels, accessible by Combine transport pods
