Item from Half-Life 2 by Valve
A sticky bomb that clings to Striders and detonates — Dr. Magnusson's petty genius turned into the weapon that saves White Forest.
The Magnusson Device is the answer to a specific tactical problem: Striders are too tall and too armored for conventional weapons at the scale the resistance can deploy. Magnusson's solution is elegant and dangerous — a sticky bomb launched from the gravity gun that attaches to the Strider and destroys it from the outside. The deployment requires getting close enough to a Strider to punt the device onto it with the gravity gun, then shooting the device to trigger detonation while avoiding the Strider's warp cannon and its Hunter escorts. It's terrifying, effective, and exactly the kind of weapon a desperate resistance would build. Magnusson insists on calling it the Magnusson Device and gets visibly irritated when anyone calls it a 'sticky bomb.' This is the most Magnusson thing about it.
A spherical device roughly the size of a basketball, with magnetic clamps on the exterior and a blinking detonation indicator. The casing is improvised — resistance engineering at its scrappiest. It attaches to a Strider's body on contact and detonates with enough force to destroy the synth. Multiple devices are stored in dispensers around the White Forest approach road.
