The HEV suit is Gordon Freeman's second skin. Built by Black Mesa for use in hazardous materials handling and extra-dimensional research, it was never designed for combat — but like everything else in Gordon's arsenal, it adapted. The suit provides radiation shielding, impact protection, a medical injection system that administers morphine and coagulants, an integrated flashlight, sprint capability, and a heads-up display showing health and suit charge status. It interfaces with wall-mounted chargers and can absorb energy from Combine power nodes. The suit's synthesized female voice — calm, clinical, utterly indifferent to the chaos around it — provides status updates that have become part of Half-Life's audio identity. 'User death imminent' delivered with the same tone as 'minor fracture detected' is dark comedy that the game never acknowledges.
A full-body suit of powered armor in burnt orange and gunmetal grey, with a chest-mounted status display and a helmet with an integrated HUD. The suit is bulky but allows full mobility. Its surface shows the wear of extended combat — scratches, dents, scorch marks.
