Lamarr

Character from Half-Life 2 by Valve

Dr. Kleiner's debeaked pet headcrab — proof that even in the apocalypse, scientists will adopt the wildlife.

Lamarr is a headcrab that Dr. Kleiner debeaked and domesticated, insofar as a parasitic alien organism can be domesticated. She escapes constantly, hides in air vents, jumps on people's heads (instinct without the hardware to follow through), and once disrupted a critical teleporter sequence by climbing into the machinery. She's both comic relief and a quiet commentary on the world of Half-Life — even the monsters are just animals doing what animals do, and given enough time and patience, even a headcrab can become something like a pet. Kleiner loves her unreservedly.

Appearance

A standard headcrab — bulbous, tan-colored body about the size of a large cat, with four spindly legs and a soft underbelly. The key difference: her beak has been surgically removed, leaving a rounded, almost comically harmless maw. She moves with the skittery energy of a housecat who knows she's not supposed to be on the counter but is going to do it anyway.

Also known as: Lamarr, Hedy, Kleiner's Headcrab
