A mysterious lumber town in eastern Oregon that is, objectively, the highest concentration of paranormal activity on Earth — which the locals have mostly learned to ignore.
Gravity Falls is a town with a founding myth that is entirely false, a charter so arcane it legalizes woodpecker marriage, and a local law enforcement team that has declared every case unsolvable since approximately 1985. It sits in Roadkill County, eastern Oregon, over a buried crashed UFO that may be responsible for the town's unusually high concentration of supernatural phenomena. The locals are adapted to the strangeness in the way people adapt to anything they can't explain and can't leave: they mostly don't talk about it. The Blind Eye Society spent decades actively erasing memories of supernatural encounters. Even without the Society, there seems to be a collective decision to treat each weird event as an anomaly and move on. The big annual events: Pioneer Day, the Mystery Fair, Summerween, and Woodstick. Each of these has, at least once, resulted in a supernatural crisis. The residents treat this as seasonal.
A small town that looks like every small Pacific Northwest town: a main street with a diner, a bowling alley, a bowling alley that was formerly a mattress store, a barber shop, and an occasional crashed government vehicle. The Gravity Falls waterfall the town is named for is visible from most hilltops. Pine trees frame everything. The town seal depicts an eagle above the falls.
