The enormous Pacific Northwest forest surrounding Gravity Falls — teeming with every paranormal creature documented in the journals, and several that aren't.
The Gravity Falls Forest is where Journal #3 began — Dipper found it in a hidden compartment in a clearing on his first week in town, and the forest has not stopped producing things to document since. Gnomes in the underbrush. Manotaurs deeper in. A bunker beneath an artificial tree. A shape-shifter in a cryogenic tube. The forest is not hostile, exactly. It is simply full of things that have been there longer than the town and have their own priorities. Some of them are documented in the journals. Many are not. The journals' author himself noted that there are anomalies he couldn't fully explain. At the edge of the tree line, looking back at the Mystery Shack in the late afternoon, you can see why someone would want to spend thirty years studying this place. There is genuinely more here than there should be.
Dense, old-growth Pacific Northwest forest, Douglas firs and redwoods that block direct light even at noon. The trees grow unusually close together in some areas. There are clearings that feel wrong. There is an artificial tree somewhere near the middle that is actually a hatch covering Ford's bunker. The forest smells like pine resin, wet soil, and occasionally something electrical.
