The Trickster is Gravity Falls' Summerween legend: if you fail to show proper respect to the holiday, it eats you. This is real. It has eaten people, or at least it keeps the threat completely credible. Under the legend, there is something smaller and sadder. The Trickster is made of all the candy nobody wanted — the candy that children threw away and grimaced at. It wants to be chosen. To be taken willingly. Not taken out of fear but out of genuine desire. When Soos eats it — not out of desperation, but because he actually likes candy corn — the Trickster dissolves not in defeat but in something that reads like satisfaction. It is the best metaphor Gravity Falls has produced for what happens when you're rejected too many times.
First appears as an extremely tall deep purple humanoid with twig-like limbs, a patchwork suit jacket, a brown hat, and a smiling jack-o-lantern mask. In its true form, a creature composed entirely of rejected candy — black licorice, candy corn, necco wafers — that can reshape its body at will.
