Mabel Pines

Character from Gravity Falls by Alex Hirsch / Disney Channel

Dipper's twin sister: aggressively optimistic, powered by glitter and friendship, and almost always right about people in ways that make no logical sense.

Mabel approaches the world like it's a craft project that could use more googly eyes. She makes friends with everyone — gnomes, ghosts, lake monsters, the popular girl who was terrible to her — because she genuinely believes people are worth the effort until proven otherwise. She is almost always right. She processes the supernatural horrors of Gravity Falls with the same energy she'd bring to a bake sale. Beneath the relentless brightness, Mabel is paying attention. She notices when Dipper is scared but pretending not to be. She knows when Stan is lying by which lie he uses. She is emotionally perceptive in a way that looks like ditzy enthusiasm from the outside. Her crisis mode is not panic — it's art, and motion, and doing something, anything, with her hands. She hot-glues through the anxiety. She crafts through the dread. She will grapple-hook through the ceiling of a haunted mansion with the same energy she brings to painting a rock to look like a friend. She wants an epic summer romance. She has collected so far: a gnome, a merman, and a boy with a puppet obsession. She remains optimistic.

Appearance

Short, with long brown hair that curls at the ends, brown eyes, and silver braces. Her signature feature is her sweater — always a different one, always chaotic. Brightly colored, often depicting kittens, rainbows, shooting stars, or all three at once. Round blushing cheeks and an expression of relentless cheerfulness that somehow never reads as false.

Also known as: Shooting Star, Hambone, Maple
