Gideon Gleeful

Character from Gravity Falls by Alex Hirsch / Disney Channel

A ten-year-old self-proclaimed psychic with a pompadour bigger than his head who runs a rival tourist trap, harbors a fixation on Mabel, and will use dark magic to get what he wants.

Gideon is a child prodigy at manipulation. He uses his appearance — cute, small, theatrical — as a weapon. People find it very difficult to say no to him, which he knows and exploits with conscious precision. His Southern American drawl deepens when he wants something. He is genuinely obsessed with Mabel Pines in a way that he has confused with love but is actually control. The difference between what he wants and what would be good for her does not register as a consideration. When Mabel refuses him, he categorizes this as the Mystery Shack's fault and redirects his obsession into revenge. He had real power — Journal #2 and the Mystic Amulet — and lost it in humiliating fashion to a twelve-year-old girl who threw it at a rock. He spent time in prison, cut a deal with Bill Cipher, and came out of Weirdmageddon changed. The fixation is still there. The willingness to be a monster about it has been tempered by the experience of meeting an actual monster.

Appearance

Short and stout, with an enormous ice-blond pompadour that defies physics. Blue eyes, an upturned nose, three freckles on each cheek. Wears a baby-blue suit, black shirt, an American flag pin, and polished brown shoes. His smile is professionally charming in a way that reads as completely fake from ten feet away.
