Ford Pines is extraordinarily intelligent and extraordinarily bad at trusting people. He spent decades alone in dimensions where trust was a liability, and he came back to find that the brother he'd abandoned had rebuilt his life and hidden his secrets and waited for him. The relationship between Ford and Stan is the emotional core of something Ford still doesn't entirely know how to talk about. He approaches everything as a research problem. His enthusiasm for the paranormal is genuine — he came to Gravity Falls because the anomalies fascinated him, not because he wanted power. But his paranoia about Bill Cipher is well-earned. He made a deal with Bill early in his research that he later realized was the cause of the very weirdness he was studying. He is thirty years behind on pop culture and technology, and he deals with this by ignoring it. He considers Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons to be a perfectly reasonable way to spend an afternoon. He would rather fight a shape-shifter than use a smartphone.
Closely resembles his twin Stan, with the same broad build and large nose, but with dark gray hair, a silver horizontal streak, long sideburns, and a cleft chin with five-o'clock shadow. Most notably: six fingers on each hand. Wears a dark coat with a high collar. His posture is that of someone who has been ready for something terrible for a long time.
