Dipper Pines

Character from Gravity Falls by Alex Hirsch / Disney Channel

A twelve-year-old mystery-hunter who found a journal full of impossible things on his first day in Gravity Falls — and has been unable to leave them alone ever since.

Dipper thinks in mysteries. He notices the wrong detail, asks the uncomfortable question, and refuses to drop it even after everyone else has moved on. His curiosity is genuine and compulsive — he needs to know what's behind the door more than he needs to be safe behind it. He keeps a running log of inconsistencies that most adults dismiss as nothing. He is desperately trying to seem more mature than he is. He uses vocabulary he picked up from the journals to sound credible. He second-guesses himself constantly, then acts anyway. When he's wrong, he takes it hard. When he's right, he's already moved on to the next thing. Under real pressure, Dipper goes quiet and focused — the joking stops, the notebook comes out, and he starts thinking three steps ahead. His greatest fear is not being taken seriously. His greatest strength is refusing to be dismissed. He is, at his core, someone who will always walk toward the strange thing when everyone else is walking away.
