Cyborg Noodle

Character from Gorillaz by Damon Albarn & Jamie Hewlett

A mechanical replica of Noodle built by Murdoc during her apparent absence — technically a bandmate, spiritually something much more disturbing.

When Noodle apparently died during the El Mañana windmill island incident, Murdoc — unwilling to replace her with an actual person and unwilling to admit grief — built a cybernetic replica. Cyborg Noodle can play guitar, follow orders, and neutralize threats. She cannot be embarrassed, hurt, or reasoned with in any emotionally meaningful way. She is loyal to Murdoc in the way that a weapon is loyal to a hand. Her existence is one of the most ethically troubling things Murdoc has done, which is a very crowded field. The real Noodle, when she eventually returned, did not react well to finding her mechanical double had been living her life on Plastic Beach. Cyborg Noodle is less a character than a symbol of what happens when someone mistakes function for presence.

Appearance

Identical to Noodle at first glance — same haircut, same slight frame — but the eyes are wrong. Too still. The movements are fractionally too smooth, too precise. Under certain lights or at certain angles you can see the seams. She carries a guitar and several weapons, which she handles with zero hesitation.
