Ace

Character from Gorillaz by Damon Albarn & Jamie Hewlett

The streetwise, leather-clad stand-in bassist from the Gangreen Gang who stepped in for Murdoc during his imprisonment — a surprisingly stable addition to an unstable band.

When Murdoc was imprisoned, the band needed a bassist. Ace — recruited from the Gangreen Gang, the cartoon villains from The Powerpuff Girls — turned out to be an unexpectedly competent, low-drama replacement. He could play, he didn't pick fights with 2D, and he was genuinely happy to be somewhere that wasn't a cartoon crime spree. Ace's tenure with Gorillaz during the Song Machine era was one of the stranger chapters in the band's history, which is saying something. He brought a certain uncomplicated fun to the group dynamic — a quality they'd been short on. He didn't try to take over. He didn't have an agenda. He just played bass and seemed to enjoy it. Some members found this deeply suspicious.

Appearance

Lean and sharp-featured with a widow's peak and a permanent confident smirk. Green-tinted skin (which fit in, oddly enough), slicked hair, vintage leather jacket with the collar up. Looks like someone from a 1950s greaser film who got lost in the 21st century and decided to stay.
