Emperor Nogo is the final threat driving the entire series — an entity that predates the storybook kingdoms and represents the force of despair and destruction given form. He was imprisoned by the royal family of Jubiland using the power of the Glitter Charms, which is why the Charms are so critical to the conflict. For most of the series he is trapped and must act through his generals, which makes him more ominous for his distance. When his power grows sufficiently, his presence corrupts the narrative fabric of the world around him. He does not want victory so much as he wants the extinction of hope itself.
An vast, formless darkness with a vaguely humanoid silhouette at its center — a face like a tragedy mask glimpsed in deep shadow, radiating cold. When he acts directly, reality around him bends into corrupted storybook imagery.
