The Nation of Justice, a steampunk French civilization built around elaborate courtroom drama, underwater exploration, and the mysterious Oratrice that judges the guilty.
Fontaine is a nation obsessed with justice, spectacle, and the boundary between guilt and innocence. The Court of Fontaine, presided over by the Hydro Dragon Sovereign Neuvillette as Chief Justice, tries cases before enthusiastic public audiences while the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale renders verdicts through Indemnitium energy. For centuries, the Hydro Archon Furina played the role of a carefree goddess while hiding a desperate secret — the prophecy that all Fontainians would dissolve into water. Furina's sacrifice of her divinity, combined with Neuvillette's restoration of his full draconic authority, broke the ancient curse and saved the nation. Now Fontaine enters a new era without an Archon, governed by its own institutions and the quiet sovereignty of Neuvillette.
A grand Belle Époque metropolis of wrought-iron balconies, clockwork mechanisms, and cascading fountains. Glass-domed buildings reflect prismatic light from the surrounding waters. Pneumatic tubes crisscross above cobblestone boulevards where well-dressed citizens stroll past cafes and theaters. Beneath the surface, glowing Fontemer technology illuminates vast underwater districts teeming with aquatic life.
