Teyvat's premier institution of knowledge and learning, a massive scholarly complex in Sumeru that controls the Akasha Terminal network and trains the world's finest researchers.
The Sumeru Akademiya is the intellectual heart of Teyvat, divided into six Darshans each studying a different domain of knowledge: Spantamad (Elementalism), Rtawahist (Astronomy), Amurta (Biology), Vahumana (Social Sciences), Haravatat (Semiotics), and Kshahrewar (Engineering). For centuries, the Grand Sages who ran the Akademiya wielded the Akasha Terminal to control information flow, eventually imprisoning the Dendro Archon Nahida and attempting to create a false god. After Nahida's liberation, the institution was reformed — but old habits of intellectual elitism and political maneuvering persist among the faculty. Alhaitham, now the Scribe, works to modernize the institution's governance.
An immense campus of interconnected domed halls, towering libraries, and open-air lecture theaters built into Sumeru's hillsides. Dendro vines thread through carved stone corridors connecting six distinct wings — one for each Darshan. Massive rotating orreries and mechanical models of elemental reactions fill the central atrium, while scholars in color-coded robes hurry between lectures carrying armfuls of scrolls.
