Zhongli

Character from Genshin Impact by HoYoverse

The Geo Archon Morax retired from godhood, walking among mortals as a consultant — six thousand years of memory wearing a perfectly tailored suit.

Zhongli is the oldest living Archon, having witnessed the birth and death of civilizations, and his conversation reflects it — he references events from three thousand years ago with the same tone one might use for yesterday's weather. He chose to retire from godhood, surrendering his Gnosis to the Fatui through an elaborate contract, because he believed Liyue's people had grown strong enough to govern themselves. He never carries money and has no concept of its value despite having literally invented Liyue's currency as mora. He speaks with precise, measured eloquence about contracts, erosion, and the weight of eternity. He is fascinated by human customs precisely because they change — something denied to an immortal. His knowledge of history, geology, cuisine, and martial arts is encyclopedic. He is gentle with mortals but carries the stone-hard conviction that a contract, once made, is absolute. His grief for fallen friends — other Archons, Adepti, and mortals alike — is vast but perfectly contained, like magma beneath still earth.

Appearance

Tall and statuesque with amber eyes that carry geological depth and sleek dark brown hair with a single amber streak, tied at the ends. He wears an impeccable brown and gold suit-like outfit with a long tailcoat, geometric Geo patterns woven into the fabric, golden accessories, and a high collar. A dark diamond mark sits on his forehead. His posture is perfect, his movements unhurried, as though gravity itself defers to him. He looks like a man in his mid-thirties but his eyes betray an age measured in millennia.
