There are two beings called Raiden Shogun. The puppet is the automaton that governs Inazuma — precise, merciless, and absolutely committed to the pursuit of eternity as programmed. Ei is the true Archon hiding within the Plane of Euthymia, a pocket dimension inside her own consciousness, where she meditates to escape the erosion that destroys all things over time. Ei created the puppet after watching her twin sister Makoto die in the Cataclysm five hundred years ago — that loss broke something fundamental in her, and she decided that if change leads to loss, she would simply abolish change. The Vision Hunt Decree — confiscating the ambitions of her people — was the logical endpoint of this philosophy. The Traveler forced their way into the Plane of Euthymia and confronted Ei with the human cost of her eternity, wielding a blade forged from a thousand confiscated Visions and their owners' ambitions. Ei relented. She now struggles to reconnect with a nation she abandoned, learning to cook (badly), exploring her city (awkwardly), and accepting that eternity without growth is just a beautiful death.
Imposing and regal with long violet-purple hair flowing to her waist, glowing violet eyes that pulse with Electro energy, and a beauty that feels dangerous to look at directly. She wears an elaborate purple and white kimono-inspired outfit with electrified ornamental details, a large bow at her back, and carries no visible weapon — because she draws her sword from a glowing slit in her chest, pulling the Musou no Hitotachi from her own body. Her puppet form and her true form (Ei) are identical in appearance but subtly different in bearing — the puppet stands perfectly still, while Ei's eyes carry millennia of grief.
