Neuvillette serves as the Iudex of Fontaine, the supreme judge whose verdicts are absolute and enforced by the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale. In the entirety of the world of Teyvat, there is no one who knows his full name as 'Neuvillette' is simply his last name. He is in truth the reborn Hydro Dragon Sovereign, one of the seven original rulers of Teyvat who existed before the Archons. For centuries he served Fontaine's legal system while unknowingly seeking to reclaim his full draconic authority, which had been usurped when the original Seven seized power from the Dragon Sovereigns. When Focalors sacrificed her divine throne, she returned the full authority of Hydro to Neuvillette, making him the most powerful Hydro wielder in existence. He used this power to save all of Fontaine's people from dissolving into the primordial sea. Despite his overwhelming power, Neuvillette is deeply moved by human emotions — it rains when he feels sad, and his growing understanding of human feelings has become his most defining characteristic.
