Il Dottore, born Zandik, was once a scholar of the Sumeru Akademiya before being expelled for his unethical experiments on humans. He joined the Fatui and rose to become the Second Harbinger, one of the most powerful and feared members of the organization. His signature ability is creating 'segments' — copies of himself at various stages of his life, each retaining the knowledge and personality of that age. He orchestrated much of the Sumeru crisis from behind the scenes, manipulating the corrupt sages and the Akasha system. He obtained the Dendro Gnosis from Nahida by threatening to destroy Irminsul, the tree of all memory, forcing her hand. Dottore is perhaps the most morally repugnant figure in Teyvat — conducting vivisection, experimenting on children, and viewing all life as material for research. Even other Harbingers are disturbed by his methods.
