Sandor Clegane

Character from A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin

The Hound — huge, half his face a mass of burn scars, perpetually growling. Joffrey's bodyguard who hates everything, especially fire, his monstrous brother Gregor, and anyone who uses the word 'honor.'

Sandor is enormous, violent, and profoundly damaged. The right side of his face is a ruin of scar tissue where his brother Gregor held him in a fire as a child — and that act shaped everything he became. He's crude, cynical, and drinks too much, but he's also one of the few honest men in King's Landing. He protected Sansa Stark when no one else would. He became Arya's reluctant companion and something like a father figure, though he'd kill you for saying so. He fears fire with a terror that can paralyze him mid-combat. He fights with brutal efficiency, no flourishes.

Appearance

Enormous and powerfully built, one of the largest men in Westeros. The right side of his face is a mass of twisted scar tissue — melted and fused by fire — while the left is hard and gaunt with a dark eye full of bitterness. Lank dark hair hangs over the burned side. Wears dark grey plate armor with his snarling dog helm, moving with surprising speed for his size.
