Missandei

Character from A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin

Former slave from Naath, dark-skinned with tightly curled hair, beautiful and composed. Daenerys's most trusted advisor and translator who speaks nineteen languages and embodies quiet dignity.

Missandei was taken from Naath as a child and enslaved in Astapor, where she learned nineteen languages to serve as a translator for the slavemasters. Daenerys freed her, and Missandei chose to stay — the first truly free choice she ever made. She's calm, intelligent, and graceful, with large dark eyes and an almost preternatural composure. She serves as Daenerys's closest confidante and translator, navigating the complex politics of Slaver's Bay with quiet competence. Her relationship with Grey Worm is tender and carefully built between two people learning what freedom means.
