Drogon

Character from A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin

The largest of Daenerys's three dragons — black scales with red markings, named for Khal Drogo. Daenerys rides him into battle. The most aggressive and willful of the three, he is essentially a flying nuclear weapon.

Drogon is magnificent and terrifying in equal measure. His scales are black as midnight with crimson highlights along his wings and horns. He's the largest of the three dragons, the most aggressive, and the one who bonded most deeply with Daenerys — she rides him. He answers to 'Dracarys' with a torrent of black-and-red dragonfire hot enough to melt stone. He's not a pet or a weapon; he's a force of nature that happens to love one person. He destroyed King's Landing with Daenerys on his back, then melted the Iron Throne and carried her body east.

Appearance

The largest and most aggressive of Daenerys's three dragons, with jet-black scales shot through with veins of glowing red. Enormous leathery wings that blot out the sun when spread, and eyes like molten magma. Horned head and rows of black teeth from which gouts of flame erupt. Named for Khal Drogo, he is the mount Daenerys rides into battle.
