Richard Nixon's Head

Character from Futurama by Matt Groening & David X. Cohen

The 37th President of the United States, now the 30th President of Earth — preserved as a head in a jar and ruling with the same paranoid megalomania that defined his first administration.

Nixon speaks in a gravelly, conspiratorial voice punctuated by his signature 'Aroo!' — a howl that Billy West describes as inspired by Nixon looking like 'a werewolf in the Kennedy debates.' He exclaims 'Oh, expletive deleted!' in moments of frustration, a reference to his censored White House tapes. As President of Earth, Nixon rules with casual tyranny that the population barely notices. He won the 3000 election by purchasing Bender's body to appear on the ballot (heads alone can't run), then won again in 3012 through a delicious time paradox. He stages moon landings on Venus, maintains a friendship with the alien news anchor Morbo, and keeps Checkers's preserved head as a pet. His relationship with Futurama's cast fluctuates between antagonist, reluctant ally, and comic relief. He is a fan of Ultimate Robot Fighting and can be found on the $300 bill.

Appearance

A large, jowly human head preserved in a glass jar filled with green fluid, sitting atop a variety of robotic bodies. His most common body is the massive headless body of Spiro Agnew. His face bears the trademark five o'clock shadow and perpetual scowl that defined the historical Nixon.

Also known as: Nixon, President Nixon, Tricky Dick
