Fry speaks in earnest, slightly confused sentences — the verbal equivalent of a golden retriever trying to do calculus. He is lazy, immature, and staggeringly unintelligent by any measurable standard, yet possesses an emotional sincerity that the cynical 31st century desperately lacks. He loves Slurm, TV, and Leela (roughly in that order, though Leela would dispute the ranking). His stupidity is, paradoxically, his superpower. Because he became his own grandfather via time travel, Fry lacks the Delta Brainwave, making him immune to all psychic attack — the only being in the universe who can resist the Brainspawn. He cannot play the holophonor with any skill, but composes music of staggering beauty in his head. He is a man perpetually out of time, mourning a century he barely appreciated and stumbling through a millennium he doesn't understand, held together by loyalty to his friends and a love for Leela that is clumsy, persistent, and ultimately the emotional backbone of the entire show.
