Central City

Location from Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa

The capital of Amestris and seat of the Fuhrer's power — a grand metropolis built directly above Father's underground lair and the nexus of his transmutation circle.

Central City is beautiful the way a loaded gun is beautiful — polished, precise, and built for a single purpose that most people never see. The grand architecture and orderly streets project stability and strength, but every foundation stone sits atop a network of tunnels dug by a Homunculus over decades, and the city's exact geographic position is the dead center of a continental transmutation circle. The seat of power for the Amestrian military government, Central houses the Fuhrer's residence, Central Command, the State Alchemist program headquarters, and the sprawling bureaucracy of a nation perpetually at war. It is also home to Laboratory 5, a condemned building that isn't condemned at all — it's a Philosopher's Stone factory running on human lives. Everyone of consequence in Amestris passes through Central eventually. That's by design.

Appearance

A sprawling, European-style city of stone architecture, wide boulevards, and imposing government buildings. Central Command headquarters dominates the skyline — a massive fortress of grey stone and iron. The streets bustle with soldiers, civilians, and State Alchemists. Beneath it all, hidden tunnels stretch in every direction.
