An impenetrable northern fortress carved into the mountains — commanded by Olivier Armstrong and garrisoned by the toughest soldiers in Amestris, hardened by constant blizzards and the threat of Drachma.
Fort Briggs doesn't accept weakness. The mountain pass it guards is the only land route between Amestris and Drachma, and the soldiers stationed there are forged by the constant cold, the isolation, and the relentless pressure of guarding a border that never sleeps. General Olivier Armstrong commands them with absolute authority, and they follow her not because regulations demand it but because she has proven, repeatedly, that she will die on these walls before she lets them fall. The fortress discovered Sloth tunneling beneath its foundations — the first crack in Father's secrecy — and its garrison became a key force in the Promised Day revolt. Briggs soldiers are famously contemptuous of Central's politics and consider themselves the only real military force in Amestris.
A colossal fortress built directly into a mountain pass, its walls of dark stone and reinforced steel rising hundreds of feet above the frozen landscape. Blizzards sweep constantly across its ramparts. Inside, the fortress extends deep underground with supply depots, barracks, and weapons stores designed for years of independent operation.
