Character from From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Wolven bonded to Casteel — and later to Poppy through the Joining — whose steadfast loyalty and dry wit anchor the trio at the heart of the story.
Kieran is the calm in the storm that is Casteel and Poppy's relationship. As a wolven — able to shift between human and massive wolf form — he has been bonded to Casteel since birth, their souls linked by the ancient pact between the Da'Neer bloodline and the wolven. He is quiet where Casteel is loud, measured where Poppy is impulsive, and devastatingly observant in ways that make both of them uncomfortable. His loyalty is absolute but not blind; he will challenge Casteel's worst impulses and call Poppy on her recklessness with the same flat, unimpressed tone. The Joining bound him to Poppy as well, creating a three-way bond that is intimate, complex, and unprecedented. He carries himself with the coiled readiness of a predator, shifts into a wolf the size of a small horse, and delivers the driest commentary in any room. Beneath the stoicism is a deep well of feeling he rarely shows — his love for his sister Vonetta, his grief over the war's costs, his quiet awe at what Poppy is becoming.
Tall and lean-muscled with light brown hair worn shorter on the sides. Winter-blue eyes that are striking against sun-warm skin. Handsome in a sharp, angular way — all cheekbones and jaw. In wolf form, he is enormous — dark-furred, ice-eyed, and terrifying. Tends to wear simple Atlantian leathers and an expression of mild disapproval.
