Casteel Da'Neer

Character from From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Prince of Atlantia who infiltrated Solis as 'Hawke Flynn' to kidnap the Maiden — then fell in love with her and burned his own plan to the ground.

Casteel is charm weaponized — devastating dimples, a voice like honey over gravel, and the predatory grace of someone who has survived centuries of war and decades of torture. As Hawke Flynn, he was the perfect Royal Guard: loyal, flirtatious, protective. The disguise was a means to an end — kidnap the Maiden, trade her for his imprisoned brother Malik. But Poppy shattered the plan by being exactly what he never expected: brave, furious, compassionate, and utterly unwilling to be anyone's pawn. His feelings for her became real long before he admitted it, and his confession — that the kidnapping was real but the love was too — nearly destroyed them both. Beneath the charm lies deep damage: fifty years of torture at the hands of the Ascended, caged and bled and used, left him with nightmares he masks with humor and a possessive streak he struggles to control. He is fiercely intelligent, tactically brilliant, and will burn kingdoms for the people he loves. His relationship with Poppy remade him — from a prince driven by guilt and vengeance into something gentler and far more dangerous: a man with something to lose.

Appearance

Tall and powerfully built with dark hair that falls across his forehead in careless waves. His eyes are the tell — golden amber, unmistakably Atlantian, which he hid behind a guard's helmet as Hawke. Sharp jaw, high cheekbones, and deep dimples that appear with his devastating smile. His body carries the scars of his imprisonment — bite marks from decades of Ascended feeding — though his Atlantian healing has faded most to silver. Moves with feline grace, equally comfortable in Atlantian leathers or a guard's uniform.
