Fortune Night is the kind of place that looks like fun and sometimes actually is, depending on who you are and how well-armed you happen to be. Its casino district and entertainment venues draw visitors from across Avalice, but its less-visible economy involves smuggling, guild activity, and the kind of deals that do not get written down. For Lilac and Carol, Fortune Night is familiar territory — the kind of place people like them pass through and occasionally work in. It is also exactly the kind of location that becomes very complicated when a galactic warlord's reach extends into it.
A riot of colored lights and blinking signs, its streets lined with entertainment establishments that operate at all hours. The architecture is flashy and deliberately distracting, with storefronts competing for attention and back alleys that tell a different story. By night it is beautiful; by day, slightly seedy and entirely honest about what it is.
