It provides energy to all three kingdoms of Avalice — Shang Tu, Shuigang, and Jade Creek Dominion.
Its existence is the foundation of the political accord between the three kingdoms.
Brevon needs it to power his damaged warship and escape Avalice.
It has been in place for longer than any living person can personally remember.
Its origins are ancient and possibly not native to Avalice.
Controlling it means controlling the balance of power on the entire planet.
When corrupted or destabilized, its energy output becomes dangerous rather than sustaining.
Multiple factions want it for different reasons, making its protection politically complicated.
