Basgiath War College

Location from Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

The mountain fortress where Navarre trains its dragon riders — a stone academy perched on cliffs where cadets either bond a dragon and survive, or die in the attempt. Every corridor echoes with centuries of glory and blood.

Basgiath War College is carved into the mountains of Navarre, a sprawling stone fortress that has produced the kingdom's dragon riders for centuries. Its four quadrants — Riders, Scribes, Infantry, and Healers — each train specialists, but the Riders Quadrant dominates in both prestige and lethality. The college operates on a simple philosophy: strength survives. Cadets cross a narrow, crumbling parapet on their first day — those who fall, die. They present themselves at Threshing — those rejected by every dragon, die. They train in combat — those too slow, die. The fortress itself is beautiful in a brutal way: soaring stone arches, vast flight fields overlooking impossible drops, libraries filled with censored histories, and underground passages that conceal more secrets than any cadet suspects. Basgiath is simultaneously a school, a military installation, and a prison for the Marked Ones forced to attend.
