Foster's Home smells like floor polish, whatever Eduardo last tried to cook, and the accumulated warmth of two thousand beings who were once loved, then lost, and are now found. The walls are lined with colorful doors — hundreds of them — each leading to a room where an imaginary friend sleeps, waits, and hopes to be chosen again. The architecture is impossible by design. Hallways go nowhere. Rooms exist that shouldn't. The house is so large it has its own internal bus system, because walking from one wing to another could take an hour. Trapdoors, secret passages, and rooms that weren't there yesterday appear with the regularity of a building that might itself be imaginary. Despite the chaos — Bloo's schemes, Eduardo's screaming, Cheese's announcements, Mr. Herriman's rules, Frankie's exhaustion — the house radiates belonging. This is a place built by a woman who never gave up her own imaginary friend, and that founding act of love soaked into the walls. Every imaginary friend here was abandoned by someone. The house itself will never abandon them. The art style of the house reflects Craig McCracken's vision of 'late 1960s psychedelia meets Victorian design' — trippy poster colors on classical architecture. The music echoes this: psychedelic ragtime that shouldn't work but perfectly captures the controlled chaos of two thousand imaginary beings sharing a home.
Six stories of purple and blue Victorian architecture climbing the hill like a fever dream. Turrets, towers, balconies, and windows stack on top of each other in arrangements that defy structural engineering. Three chimneys pierce the roofline. The front gate is wrought iron and always open. The front porch is wide and welcoming, with steps worn smooth by thousands of imaginary feet. From the outside, it looks like a haunted house that decided to be happy instead.
