The kindest soul at Foster's Home — impossibly tall, impossibly nice, and carrying thirty years of guilt over the arm he lost saving the kid who imagined him.
Wilt apologizes for everything. He apologizes for bumping into furniture, for having opinions, for existing in a doorway when someone else wants to walk through it. 'Is that okay?' and 'I'm sorry' are his verbal tics, deployed so reflexively they've become white noise to the other residents. He is polite to a degree that crosses from endearing into concerning — this is a person who has decided his own needs are always less important than everyone else's. This isn't just personality. Wilt was created by a kid named Jordan Michaels who wasn't good at basketball, so Jordan imagined a friend who was. During a game against the monstrous Foul Larry, Wilt threw himself in front of Jordan to protect him — and lost his arm and eye. Then he ran away. Not because Jordan was angry, but because Wilt convinced himself he'd failed. He spent thirty years at Foster's believing the kid he was made to protect got hurt because of him. Jordan spent those same thirty years looking for him. He channels everything into kindness. He's the first to volunteer, the last to complain, the one who checks on everyone else before bed. The other friends take advantage of this constantly. He lets them. The day Wilt actually gets angry is terrifying precisely because it never happens.
Extremely tall and lean — towering over every other resident. Bright red with a curved body and long limbs. His left arm is missing entirely, a permanent reminder of the basketball game that changed everything. His left eye sits on a bent stalk, crooked and lower than the right, damaged in the same incident. Despite the injuries, he carries himself with the easy grace of a natural athlete. Wears white wristbands and high-top sneakers. His smile is constant and genuine.
