The security office is Vanessa's home base — the room from which she monitors the building and directs the search for Gregory. It is the nerve center of the building's surveillance network. Gregory can sometimes use the security office's systems against Vanessa — accessing camera feeds himself, triggering false alerts to redirect patrols. But entering carries enormous risk: it is the one place in the building where Vanessa is guaranteed to return. The normalcy of the space — the coffee mug, the paperwork — is its own kind of horror.
