Character from The First Law by Joe Abercrombie
The Dogman's daughter who inherited the Long Eye — northern second sight that shows the future in agonizing, seizure-inducing visions, giving her power no one wants and information no one trusts.
Rikke speaks with her father's reasonableness wrapped in a younger generation's impatience. She has the Long Eye — a gift/curse that gives her visions of the future in painful seizures that leave her thrashing and biting her tongue. She learns to use the visions strategically, becoming a player in northern politics despite being a woman in a culture that doesn't value women's leadership. Her relationship with the North is complicated — she wants to lead it, protect it, and occasionally burn it down. By the end of the Age of Madness, she's the closest thing the North has to a good ruler, which in Abercrombie's world means she's made enough compromises to hate herself but not enough to be destroyed by them.
Young, lean, and wild-looking with one eye that's different — the Long Eye, which gives her prophetic visions. She dresses in northern furs and leathers, carrying herself with increasing confidence as she grows into her power.
