Character from The First Law by Joe Abercrombie
A former Gurkish slave consumed by hatred so pure it's practically a superpower — recruited by Bayaz because rage makes an excellent weapon, especially when you don't care what happens to the weapon afterward.
Ferro speaks in threats, insults, and the occasional grunt of acknowledgment when someone says something she can't immediately argue with. She hates the Gurkish for enslaving her. She hates everyone else on general principle. She is not a team player. Bayaz recruited her because her demonic heritage — possible descent from Euz's union with a spirit from the Other Side — makes her useful for touching the Seed. She didn't know or care about Bayaz's plans; she wanted to kill Gurkish. Everything else was someone else's problem. The Seed changed her. She absorbed its power and vanished into the South, carrying something inside her that isn't fully human anymore. Whether she's a weapon, a victim, or something new entirely is left deliberately unresolved. What's certain is that she never found the peace she wasn't looking for.
Dark-skinned, lean, and hard as dried leather. Sharp features set in a permanent scowl. Yellow eyes that might be demonic heritage or might just be the universe's way of warning people. Carries multiple blades and moves like someone who expects a fight at every corner — because she does.
