An abandoned church in the Sector 5 slums where Aerith tends a miraculous flower garden — the only place in Midgar where flowers grow naturally, nourished by a thin vein of Lifestream beneath the floor.
The Sector 5 Church is an anomaly in Midgar — a place where life persists despite the city's relentless extraction of mako. Aerith discovered that flowers would grow here and has tended her garden for years, selling blooms to uplift the slums. Cloud first meets Aerith after crashing through the roof following the Reactor 1 bombing. The church holds deep spiritual significance as one of Midgar's few remaining connections to the Planet. In Advent Children, the church becomes a place of healing when Lifestream-infused water pools in the flower bed, curing Geostigma.
A crumbling stone church with a partially collapsed roof that lets shafts of light fall on a bed of yellow and white flowers growing impossibly from the wooden floorboards. Broken pews line the nave, and dust motes drift through beams of light in the quiet, sacred air.
