Rocket Town

Location from Final Fantasy VII by Square Enix

A small settlement named for the abandoned Shinra No. 26 rocket tilting on its launch pad — Cid Highwind's home and monument to his shattered dream of being the first man in space.

Rocket Town exists because of Cid Highwind's dream and Shinra's broken promises. Shinra funded a space program that produced the Shinra No. 26 rocket, with Cid as its pilot. When a malfunction threatened Shera — Cid's assistant checking the oxygen tanks — Cid aborted the launch to save her life, destroying his dream. Shinra subsequently cancelled the space program, and the rocket has stood rusting ever since, a monument to ambition crushed by circumstance. Cid blames Shera bitterly despite her having been right about the faulty tank. The party acquires the Tiny Bronco here. Later, the rocket is finally launched to attempt to destroy Meteor, giving Cid his moment in space at last.

Appearance

A modest town dwarfed by the enormous rusting rocket leaning on its launch pad at the settlement's edge. Cid's house sits near the rocket, cluttered with aerospace blueprints and engine parts. The Tiny Bronco seaplane is parked in his yard, lovingly maintained despite being grounded.
